Jenny Hewett, 65, from Old Costessey, lost her sister Christine Coulton in an accident in April on the A146 near Loddon which also left her niece Lucinda seriously injured.

Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS), which is manned by medical professionals who work voluntarily, were dispatched to the accident.

While Christine sadly died at the scene, Lucinda was taken to Addenbrooke's for treatment.

Jenny said: 'NARS stayed with her when she was air-lifted to Addenbrooke's.

'Without them, it wouldn't have just been my sister we lost and we are eternally grateful to those people.'

While Lucinda was being treated in hospital, a group of her friends set up a fundraising group to support NARS, raising £2,000.

Jenny took time off from her job at the O2 store on Castle Street in Norwich and when she came back her colleagues rallied round her.

She said: 'My manager David approached head office to see if they could do anything to help raise money for NARS, and they donated a £600 smartphone and said they would support us doing a raffle.

'When I came back to work, David said they all loved Christine and Lucinda and that they wanted to do something.'

With O2's support, Jenny and her colleagues approached businesses in Norwich to donate prizes for a raffle.

She said: 'Local companies donated some fantastic prizes, including Proudlock and Harry, Lisa Angel, Cuba Revolution and Norwich City Football Club.

'All the staff in the O2 shop helped sell raffle tickets and we raised almost £2,000.

'We're going to have a whip round in the store to make it an even £2,000 and O2 have said they will match it, so we will be able to give £4,000 on top of the £2,000 Lucinda's friends raised.'

Paul Strut, NARS communications officer said: 'The amount they have raised is almost exactly the cost we face to equip our members with the protective clothing they need to wear out on jobs.

'It's fantastic that they have managed to engage O2 as well. Huge thanks all round'
