Families and members of the community are invited back to a popular Sprowston pub which has reopened after being closed for more than two months.

The new landlady at The Beehive in Cannerby Lane, Sharon Robinson, who used to work behind the bar, wants the community to return to the pub and tell her what they would like to see there.

“We are looking to get darts teams in here and the pool teams that used to play here are coming back. We want to get communities and families back in here.

“We want to get it used more as a daytime pub.”

It’s the first pub the mother-of-two has run, but she has experience in business, as she used to run an online advertising directory. The pub has undergone a makeover inside and is currently undergoing another refurbishment outside.

She said: “The pub area inside was previously very cluttered, so we have opened it up more. The outside is also getting a new lick of paint and repairs.”

She said the pub was now serving homemade food and it will have a resident live band, the Wild Jacks.

As reported, the Greene King-owned pub closed in early March and a licensing notice attached to the building stated that previously-planned works there had been cancelled.

The Evening News revealed in December last year that Greene King was opening new outlets in Norfolk using its Meet and Eat franchising model and The Beehive was set to be the next pub to open using the model. Miss Robinson was due to take over as part of the franchising model last year, but that fell through.

The Evening News has been urging people to return to pubs through our Love Your Local campaign.
