Weather experts said today that previously predicted snow storms for the region now look less likely - but the cold snap is set to continue.

Yesterday, weather experts were predicting that snow would yet again return to Norfolk.

However, temperatures last night were relatively mild at 3-4 degrees Celsius, but will be close to freezing through the week.

John Bacon, a forecaster for WeatherQuest, said: “It's going to be until Thursday before we see some reasonable breaks in the cold.”

“Through tonight we're still likely to see spits and spots of rain,” he said.

“Because temperatures are close to freezing there's a chance some of that rain will turn slightly sleety.”

But Mr Bacon said that large snow showers in the county were not likely.

“If we get some snow at the moment it will be a light covering and it won't last very long,” he said.

“We're not talking about a blizzard here.”
