People are often pushing themselves to achieve feats of endurance to raise money for charity, but four Norwich men are starting a challenge with a slightly different twist in the city tonight.
Starting from 7pm this evening at Rileys Pool and Snooker Club on Magdalen Street they will be attempting to play snooker, pool and billiards for 24 hours.
Three Norwich cuemen, Jamie Edwards, Mark Bolton and Shaun Chipperfield, will be ready and waiting for challengers who fancy their chances against them.
It has been organised to coincide with Cancer Research UK's Race For Life events.
Organiser Mr Edwards said: 'The general idea is that we will be playing for a period of 24 hours and in that time you will be able to challenge any of us to your chosen discipline, whether that be snooker, billiards, nine-ball or eight-ball pool.
'All we ask in return for you to be able to challenge us is that you make a donation no smaller than 1, but please feel free to donate what you can afford, remember every penny counts!'
Rileys club magician Patrick 'Aces' Stone will also be performing magic tricks for further donations and the group are hoping to raise 500 through their efforts.
Mr Edwards continued: 'The bar at Rileys will be open until six in the morning, so we have said to friends if they are going out in the city tonight then when they are finished at three or four in the morning they should come down. They can have a few more drinks and just watch what's going on or challenge us.
'But in the quiet times we will keep playing games to keep the marathon theme going.'
Donations can be made at the event itself or alternatively donations can be made via their sponsorship page at www.justgiving.com/the24hour
