It was a weekend of impressive stunts, twists and tricks in the air as more than 100 skiers and snowboarders took to the slopes as part of Farmers Jam 2011.

Skiers and snowboarders travelled from as far as Glasgow to take part in the three-day adrenaline-fuelled event which was held at Norfolk snowsport club in Trowse.

Julia Kirby from Bawdeswell has brought her son, Cameron, eight, to the club for nearly two years.

Ms Kirby said: “Cameron loves skiing, he lives for it. I bought his first ski suit before he was even born. The good thing about skiing is it’s a family sport and you can all do it together.”

Cameron said: “I like doing tricks and learning new things. It’s really exciting. I want to be an Olympic skier or ski instructor one day.”

Friday saw the slope being set up and a chance for participants to practice.

On Saturday skiers and snowboarders battled it out on the slopes while Sunday was focused on freestyle boarding and skiing. The weekend finished with a prize giving and big air final where the 12 best skiers and boarders performed stunts and tricks in the air.

Volunteer at the snowsports club, Yvonne Benner said: “It has been better than we imagined it would be – the weather has been great this weekend. People call it the most anticipated event of the year in the dry-slope scene. People come from everywhere and this year we have had about 30 local riders enter.”

Those who had never experienced the dry slopes before were able to try one of the taster sessions which were running all weekend. There was also activities for children including a bouncy castle and giant zorb balls.
