More than 550 people will tomorrow night (Friday) take part in a special walk under the stars for Macmillan.

Among the hundreds of walkers will be sisters Hollie and Harriet Sutherland, who will be walking in memory of their cousin Nick Wright, who died from progressive bone cancer in 2004 aged just 17.

It will be third time Hollie, 25, has taken part in the annual 13-mile event and her younger sister’s second Starlight Walk.

The pair hope to beat their time last year of three hours and 45 minutes.

Hollie, who lives in Stalham and works as a teaching assistant at Sheringham Woodfields School, said: “It’s a really good challenge and Macmillan is a great cause, helping people across Norfolk.

“There’s always someone you know who has been through cancer and Macmillan is there to support them and their family.”

She said her aunt and uncle were supported by Macmillan when her cousin, who was a
pupil at Stalham High School, was ill.

Hollie, whose 20-year-old sister lives in Ludham, has been collecting sponsorship and walking more often in preparation for the event. She has raised £300 for the charity so far.

The Starlight Walk Norwich, now in its sixth year, starts at midnight tomorrow at the Sportspark and goes around Norwich’s outer ring road.

It is organised by the Sportspark and sponsored by the Evening News and Chapelfield. It is open to people aged 16 and over.

If you’ve not yet registered to take part yet you still can. Registration costs £25, all of which goes straight to Macmillan Cancer Support in Norfolk.

To enter on the night walkers are asked to arrive and register at Sportspark by 10.45pm. Parking will be available in the Sportspark car park and main UEA car park. Registration must be paid by cash only on the night.
