A Hethersett family trio will be braving the icy waters of the Solent to raise money for charity on their way to a rock music festival.

Siblings Luke Hull 20, Felicia Hull, 19, and Oliver Armstrong, 26, are the children of Hethersett parish councillor Shane Hull.

The trio became well known in the village during their work promoting the London Olympics Games in 2012.

Now, they are going to swim to the Bestival Music Festival which takes place on the Isle of Wight in September.

The numbers allowed to take part in the annual charity swim are strictly limited to about two dozen and the trio, all qualified lifeguards, will be raising money for Ocean Youth Trust South and Dementia UK.

Their grandfather Ron lived with dementia and died in 2010 after a long illness.

The 1.3 mile swim is across one of the busiest shipping lanes in Europe and has been taking place for the past seven years. Unpredictable tides will make it quite a challenge – particularly for Mr Armstrong who is only an occasional swimmer.

All three have worked at Wymondham Leisure Centre and the University of East Anglia Sportspark.

The trio have all set-up fundraising pages through Virgin Money Giving. Mr Hull's site is at http://uk,virginmoneygiving.com/LukeHull1, Miss Hull's is at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/FeliciaHull21 and Mr Armstrong's is at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/OllieArmstrong.
