A supermarket has applied for permission to refurbish its petrol station.
Sainsbury's, in Pound Lane, Thorpe St Andrew, is hoping to remove five underground fuel tanks, decommission two existing tanks and install three new 60,000 litre underground tanks. The station's kiosk will also be upgraded if Broadland District Council approves the plan.
Planning documents state: 'Whilst there is no evidence that the tanks are currently leaking fuel, or are in imminent danger of doing so, Sainsbury's is acutely aware of their responsibilities to the local environment and the local community.'
