Russell Martin cannot wait to return to a packed Carrow Road on Saturday for Norwich City's crunch League One clash against Leeds.

After two tough away games against Huddersfield and Swindon the Canaries secured an impressive four-point haul to leave them with an eight-point lead at the top of the table.

Now Martin is looking for some home comforts to stretch the advantage at the summit and help his side strengthen its grip on the championship trophy with victory against United.

'They're all big at this stage of the season, but we've built up a nice little gap,' the right-back said.

'We'll go into the game and set-up to win the game. We want to win every game.

'We've got a draw at Swindon, but the Leeds game will be massive.

'We'll have the crowd behind us and it will be nice to be at home.

'At the end of the day we're a few points clear.

'We were in a great position when I joined, but if someone had said that you'd bite their hands off and take it.

'It's all in our hands and that's the beauty of it.

'We know what we've got to do and hopefully we'll pick up the result against Leeds and kick on.'

Martin admitted he was disappointed the Canaries' advantage at the top of the table was not even greater after City's match at Swindon on Saturday.

A Gordon Greer header in the third minute of time added on was enough for the home side to collect a point after Grant Holt had given City a 52nd minute lead in front of their 2,800 travelling fans at the County Ground.

But Martin insists the four points picked up at Swindon and Huddersfield will have made City's rivals sit up and take notice.

'It's the 93rd minute and their lad has shown some great desire from a good ball in the box and has scored the goal and that's the disappointing thing,' he said.

'It's the last kick of the match. We've taken the kick-off and he's blown the whistle so it's really disappointing.

'But it's a point gained and we move a step closer.

'We've almost hit 80 now and others teams will see we've not lost and other people would have thought two away games and they've got four points out of them. The two away games have been really tough.

'So far it's been a good month and hopefully we'll kick on.

'When you're 1-0 in the 93rd minute you expect to win the game. But we didn't so we move on. No-one's going to worry about it too much or be too disappointed, or to despondent because the lads have been brilliant again.

'It's a good point away from home and we'll go back to our place and give Leeds a really good game.'
