Roys of Wroxham food fayre starts today

A six-day local food fayre will started today with then intention of showing why it is best to eat local and giving people the chance to taste local seasonal, fresh, high quality food.

A six-day local food fayre will started today with then intention of showing why it is best to eat local and giving people the chance to taste local seasonal, fresh, high quality food.

The spring food fayre at Roys of Wroxham will feature strawberries grown in Roughton, potatoes from Buxton, asparagus from Rollesby, free range eggs from Fakenham and award-winning cheese from Wells, among more than 20 local food and drink producers.

It should be one of the largest gatherings of local producers anywhere in Norfolk, said organisers.

Each supplier will set up stalls around the store so customers can taste, learn more and talk to the suppliers about their food.

Paul Roy, marketing and buying director, said: “Local food generally means better quality, fresher produce which lasts longer and is value for money.

“Why bring products from hundreds of miles away when you can get wonderful fresh products such as potatoes, eggs, apples, cheese, beer, ice cream, preserves and much, much more from just down the road?

“People are looking for good quality food and value for money; we offer both so our customers are keen to buy locally.”

The fayre will be at Roys' food hall from today until Saturday. It will be free to attend and there will be tastings between 10am and 4pm each day.
