Morningthorpe recycling centre near Long Stratton will be closed for eight weeks while essential maintenance work is carried out.

The centre will be closed from June 13 while work is done to improve the drainage and substantial repairs are carried out on the car park.

The centre will reopen on Saturday, August 5 once work has been completed.

The work will cost £90,000 and will be carried out by Norfolk County Council's Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.

The nearest alternative recycling centres, which are open seven days a week, are Ketteringham, Station Lane, near Hethersett and Mile Cross, Swanton Road.

Other sites that are open Friday to Monday are the Bergh Apton and Wymondham centres.

The work needs to be completed to allow the site to continue to operate safely and meet environmental regulations.
