As a daily user living in Sprowston there is no doubt the NDR has already saved me hours of frustration and I look forward to the next stretch opening.
But even as a convert there are three issues that need rapidly addressing for they can only get much worse when the road is fully open.
The A140 between the NDR junction and Norwich Airport traffic lights needs fully dualling. Not for speed but for safety and extra stacking distance for traffic. I have already seen tailbacks on to the NDR.
The island at the rear of the airport/junction to Petans needs countdown markers especially to aid drivers pulling out to pass the ever increasing number of agricultural vehicles. But generally it is difficult to judge going by the number of near misses and at least one accident so far seen.
The traffic from Horsford direction to the NDR now regularly tails back around one mile, along the new Drayton Lane, onto the Holt Road and beyond the entrance to Horsbeck Way to the garage. This impacts on traffic wanting to join the Holt Road and especially those leaving Horsbeck Way and Church Street.
