Some people believe cyclists get away with law-breaking but drivers do not.
I wish the police would do something about cyclists riding in the dark without lights. However, I also wish the police would do something about the offences drivers commit abusing vehicle restriction exemptions in pedestrian areas and going the wrong way along one-way streets.
What percentage of drivers going 10mph over the speed limit, on their mobile phones and over the drink-drive limit actually get caught? Also, it is drivers ignoring red lights, rather than cyclists, who are killing and injuring pedestrians.
Drivers' behaviour does not excuse cyclists but let's keep thing is perspective.
What puzzles me about children and teenagers cycling without lights is what their parents are thinking of. Surely some of them drive, if not most of them.
