Show director Mark Nicholas said they were monitoring various forecast sites and while the weather did appear 'unsettled' for the two days over the event, he did not expect it to affect visitor numbers. 'There's no reason for the prospect of any unsettled weather to make visitors think twice about heading to the Royal Norfolk Show. We are optimistic that there will still be plenty of dry spells throughout the two days to enjoy everything we have to offer.'

He said the ground was dry thanks to the recent warm weather and they did not anticipate any problems in the car parks or in the actual showground itself. 'Whatever the weather we would always advise showgoers to be prepared, make sure you have an umbrella and suitable footwear just in case but to also pack sun cream, a hat and a bottle of water too.'

Norwich-based forecaster Weatherquest said rain was expected on Tuesday night, parts of Wednesday and possibly Thursday. 'It's looking promising for the first half of Tuesday, but the second half of the day will see showers moving in which will wet the ground significantly in some places,' said forecaster Jim Bacon. 'The showground will definitely get some, but the greatest risk for the area comes on Tuesday evening when heavy bursts of rain are forecast through the night. We expect 10mm to 20mm of rain over that period.'

He said showers were forecast for Wednesday through the day but it was also expected to 'brighten up for parts of the morning and we expect warm, humid conditions'.

Highs are expected to be in the low 20Cs.

'Once we move into Thursday temperatures should reach about 22C and there could still be some showers around but it should be mostly dry,' said Mr Bacon. 'I'd recommend packing a brolly and your wellies - you'll probably need them more Wednesday than Thursday.' Organisers said several car parks were available although motorists would be automatically directed to the first one they approach unless otherwise indicated. Bus services between Norwich and the Norfolk Showground will be also be available.
