A group of regulars at the Shoulder of Mutton pub in Strumpshaw came together for the third year running to organise their own mini music festival and raised more than £15,000 for charity.
Party in the Park was held at Strumpshaw Hall, east of Norwich, with organisers hoping to add to their rolling total of £30,000 raised over the past two years for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
A group of volunteers, led by Freddie Cann and local plumber Nick Budd, organised the outdoor event in the grounds of the Strumpshaw Steam Museum, which included six local bands and children’s entertainment, such as swing boats and bucking bronco.
Headline band, The Someones, kicked off proceedings with an acoustic set and the line-up culminated with Rivers playing from midnight.
More than 1,000 people attended the annual event with money from ticket sales going to the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Co-organiser Mr Cann, from Blofield, said: “We chose to support the air ambulance after they came to the aid of a girl who fell from her horse at Strumpshaw Hall.
“She was lucky not to be seriously hurt, but it made us realise how important this charity is to our rural community.”
The event also supported the local First Responders charity with proceeds from a barbecue and a range of other catering stalls and a licensed bar.
They are still counting exactly how much has been raised but Mr Cann confirmed the total was already upwards of £15,000 and was hoping would end up closer to £20,000.
That would bring the overall total for the annual event close to £50,000, which Mr Cann said they were “immensely pleased with”.
A presentation night is now being organised for Saturday, September 10, where the money will be presented to the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
