More than 200 properties across Norfolk have been left without power following the storms which swept over the county this afternoon.

Engineers from UK Power Networks are trying to restore the power, after a fault in an underground electricity cable.

Areas affected include NR18 0, NR9 3, NR9 4 and NR 9 5.

Those postcode areas include Wymondham, Marlingford, Easton, Weston Longville and Barford.

A spokesperson for UK Power Networks said: “Engineers are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to 210 customers in the Wymondham North area following an underground cable fault at 1pm.

“Power has been restored in stages to 1169 customers and we would like to reassure the 210 homes and businesses without electricity that we will get them back on as soon as possible.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this is causing”

They added some services might not be restored until between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

And some properties in Norwich city centre, including Archant’s offices in Prospect House, also lost power at about 3.30pm.
