People living in the NR3 and NR4 postal districts of Norwich have been without electricity for several hours last night due to a power cut.

UK Power Networks, the company that recently took over the running of electricity distribution from EDF Energy, said it was caused by a substation fault and that engineeers were looking into repairing it.

The Evening News received calls from people in both Sewell and Mile Cross wards in the city, complaining that their electricity had been off for several hours, from about 6pm.

Some people were still without power four to five hours later, although a spokesman for the company said early today that power had been restored.
