New tenants are to take over the Cellar House pub in Eaton, which closed on Sunday night and will be refurbished before reopening in about five weeks.
Victoria MacDonald and her brother-in-law James Spalding, who also run the King's Head in Brooke, are the prospective new tenants.
Mrs MacDonald, who is also Norwich city councillor for Lakenham ward, said: 'The pub was being run by a management company for Enterprise Inns and the contract ended. It will be closed for about five weeks while Enterprise does a wonderful refurbishment job inside and out. We are due to reopen on April 15.
'As someone who lives in Eaton, I have a great passion for the Cellar House which has always been a flagship pub. It's going to be a traditional pub that does good food. It won't have TV and will be a place for people to talk and meet friends, with a great atmosphere.
'We will also have a new initiative, a boardroom upstairs.'
The pub was forced to stop serving food last week, after a complaint, but Mrs MacDonald said that was not linked to its closure.
A spokeswoman for Norwich City Council said: 'Following a complaint several days ago, one of the council's environmental health officers visited the premises on Tuesday. After this visit, a decision was taken that same day that the pub would cease serving food to customers, although it continued to remain open until yesterday, but serving drinks only.'
As reported, the pub was being run by manager Stu Murdoch, who was unavailable for comment yesterday.
An Enterprise Inns spokesman said: 'We are pleased to announce that the Cellar House is currently undergoing extensive internal and external refurbishments, in conjunction with a new publican taking over the business.
'We can confirm that the new publican is an established pub operator with a good knowledge of the local area, and we would like to reassure local residents that the pub will resume trading once the refurbishments have been completed.'
