A city councillor has written to Chancellor George Osborne urging him to cut income tax for people on middle and low incomes in next week’s budget.

James Wright is part of a group of Liberal Democrats from across the country who are asking for people not to have to pay income tax on the first £10,000 they earn.

The Liberal Democrat group leader at Norwich City Council said: “Full-time resident Norwich workers have the lowest average income in the region so the issue is particularly relevant to the city. Every day I meet residents in work but still struggling to make ends meet.”
