New plan could see Wensum Lodge squash courts moved to Norwich school
Part of the money raised by closing and selling off a Norwich sports hall could be used to provide new squash courts at a city school.
The sports hall at Wensum Lodge, in King Street, is due to close tomorrow (Sunday) after bosses at Norfolk County Council said it could not afford the maintenance costs to keep it open.
The council says it would cost just under £430,000 for the repairs which would be needed to keep it open for public use and say that money is not available in the current climate.
But bosses at County Hall have said the squash courts at the centre could be moved to the Hewett School site in Lakenham - using money from the sale of the site.
