A Norfolk MP is set to tell Parliament how he fears house developers could cause chaos in rural areas.

George Freeman, MP for Mid Norfolk, has secured a debate in Parliament on the issue of local planning and will use local examples to highlight his fears that rural constituencies are facing unprecedented pressures to build.

Mr Freeman is concerned about the impact on infrastructure and services but is also worried that local plans are being ignored in the rush to build more housing.

He said: “My debate is an attack on the way big, out-of-town developers are exploiting the National Planning Policy Framework to ride roughshod over the Localism Act.

“I’ll be citing Swanton Morley in my patch, Yaxham and Mattishall and others who have done excellent Village Plans only to be ignored. Which I will argue is the wrong way to get house building up and will destroy already flimsy trust in the planning system.”
