The accident happened at 11.05am today on Guildhall Hill, Norwich.

Eyewitness Karina Wood, who was working in The Ice Cream Parlour market stall at the time, said a blue Mercedes Benz “rolled” down a hill from outside Norwich City Hall on St Peter’s Street, towards Norwich Guildhall.

Miss Wood, 30, from Appleyard Crescent in Norwich, said: “A man tried to stop the car. I heard someone shout ‘no, no no’ when it happened.”

She said the 55-year-old man who attempted to stop the car was looked over by paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service but he was not taken to hospital and walked away from the scene.

The car owner’s husband, who did not want to speak, said no-one was injured and the car was in a state where it could be driven, despite the front being damaged.

No major damage was caused to the Norwich Guildhall.

Norfolk Police officers in two police cars were also called as was a recovery truck.

A Norfolk Police spokesman said a blue Merecedes collided into a pedestrian.

They added the pedestrian was believed to have suffered minor injuries from the collision and was being monitored by medical staff.
