Come on Norwich - tonight is the night to back our homegrown talent, Ronan Parke, as he sings in the final of Britain's Got Talent.

The 12-year-old from Poringland will face the judges for the final time and is relying on the public vote to win.

The call to support Ronan came as Simon Cowell blasted rumours that the competition was fixed.

An anonymous blog by a person claiming to be a Sony executive alleged that Ronan was spotted by Syco, Mr Cowell’s production company, when he performed at a birthday party for Bryan Gunn.

The post also claimed Ronan had been signed to Syco for two years and that he would be crowned the winner of Britain’s Got Talent tonight.

Mr Cowell’s lawyers claimed the post was malicious communication and reported it to the police.

It was removed from the internet but had already received nearly 140,000 hits.

In relation to the claims Ronan’s mum, Maggie, said “It’s simply not true, there’s no truth in it at all.”

She said that he has never had elocution lessons and that Ronan never sang at Mr Gunn’s birthday party, as the blog claimed. Ronan said that he had not been coached by anyone to do with Syco and that the only person who had trained him was Norwich vocal coach, Kay Webber.

He said: “She has been really good. She gave me the confidence to enter the competition. I’ve thought about entering it for a couple of years but I never thought I was confident enough or good enough to do it. After starting singing lessons, I felt as though I was ready.”

Speaking to Anglia TV, Ronan dismissed the rumours.

He said: “I think it’s great that Simon’s putting the effort to get the police involved and everything, and I’m happy that they’ve said it’s not true because it’s definitely not.”

Ronan and the other finalists will go on tour next week which starts in Newcastle on June 11.

He said: “It’s always been my dream to perform at the O2. I’ve seen Lady Gaga and Beyonce there and I said ‘one day I will be up there’ and now I will be – it’s amazing.

“This is the best experience of my life and I think it will be for the rest of my life. I’m so happy I applied for it.”

Mrs Parke said: “I can’t believe how far he’s got – I just thought he would go to the audition and that would be it. I’ve always thought he’s got an amazing voice but I’m his mum.

“He is a lovely lad, he’s got a very sunny disposition and he’s a people person – he’s always got time for everyone.”

Punters in the local pub, the Royal Oak in Poringland showed their support for Ronan, waving Evening News bills and cheering on the youngster.

Landlady Delia Perry said she was delighted to support Ronan.

“When I saw his performance, I thought his voice was absolutely amazing,” she said.

Ronan will perform in the live final of Britain’s Got Talent tonight on ITV1 at 7pm. Check our website at www.eveningnews24.co.uk for updates on how he gets on.
