Families remembered their lost little ones in an emotional ceremony yesterday afternoon.

Mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, gathered for a walk through Norwich, to remember children and babies they had lost.

The walk of remembrance started at the Wildman pub at noon, before heading to The Mall Gardens, where balloons, shaped as hearts and stars, were released by the 16 families and a poem was read.

Claire Marritt, who founded Norwich-based support group for bereaved families and parents, Treasured Dreams, organised Sunday's walk.

Mrs Marritt, whose daughter Ellie was stillborn in November 2004, said: 'It is probably the biggest support you can have.

'You have all lost the dreams and the hopes that you could see before you.

'There is no point someone who has not been through the loss to sit there and say everything is going to be alright.

'It is really nice to have people who know and understand.'

The walk of remembrance also headed to The Forum where the Catton Grove Community Choir sang songs, including Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.

Walkers came from across the country, with one woman, who has had seven miscarriages, coming all the way from Cumbria.

Mrs Marritt, 30, who hand makes personalised bereavement packages and sends them all over the world, said: 'There was a lot of emotion.

'When we released the balloons there was a lot of crying and a lot of tears.

'You spend your time on the walk thinking about your child.'

Mrs Marritt also offers support to 3,000 members through the Treasured Dreams' Facebook page.
