Hundreds of people enjoyed the annual, free Christmas fun day organised by Norwich City Council for its tenants.

This year's event was held in the heart of Tuckswood at the Harford Community Centre.

Every child received a free gift from Santa's Grotto, and visitors also enjoyed face painting, Christmas decoration making workshops, and a host of festive games. The Tuckswood Primary School choir also performed.

One of the organisers, Amanda Green, said: 'It was brilliant. We must have had 250 people come through the doors. The children enjoyed making food for reindeers, and the school choir was very good.'

One of her colleagues, Monica Handley, added that Santa's Grotto had been particularly popular.

'It's been going at full pelt,' she said. 'And 25 of the children from Tuckswood choir sang for us. It was all free and I think the families all enjoyed it. It was a really good kick-off for the Christmas festivities.

'We also got positive feedback from tenants about the city council's housing section.'

The family-friendly event was organised for city council tenants by the local authority's housing staff in partnership with NPS Norwich, Cotman Housing and council contractors Norse, Foster Property Maintenance, Gasway, SCCI Alphatrack, Mitie and UKDN Waterflow.
