An Olympic gold medallist swimmer will be coming to Norwich to support a charity swimathon.

Duncan Goodhew will be coming to the city's Riverside Leisure Centre for the Swimathon in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care on Saturday, April 9. The event is from 4pm to 9pm and will include a variety of swimmers completing either 1.5, 2.5 or 5km in the pool, either individually or as a team.

Mr Goodhew, who is president of the Swimathon Foundation, said: 'As we approach a quarter of a century of Swimathons, I'm delighted to report that the 2010 event enjoyed an astonishing 37pc rise in entries. And what's really exciting is that around 2,500 of those who dived in told us that they only started swimming again when they entered Swimathon.'

Swimmer entry is open until April 7. To sign up to take part in the Swimathon, go online at www.swimathon.org or call 0845 36 700 36.
