The fate of a German-style beer festival remains in the balance, after councillors deferred their decision on its licence application.

An application for a multi-year premises licence to hold Oktoberfest Norwich in Eaton Park has been submitted to Norwich City Council by a company called Mutiny in the Park Limited.

This licence would allow the company to hold events at Eaton Park for two days a year each October for years to come.

However, at a meeting of the council's licensing sub committee, members unanimously agreed to defer the decision, after organisers sent no representative to the meeting.

Three objections had been submitted - one from a member of the public and two from organisers of parkrun events - but two of these were withdrawn before the meeting.

After considering all cases, members of the committee elected to defer their decision on the event, as Mutiny in the Park did not sent a representative to field questions they had over potential noise nuisance.

The decision will now be made on Friday, April 13.
