The Whalebone Freehouse pub in Magdalen Road, Norwich will use its 22nd annual beer festival to launch its charity activities for 2018.

The event will run between Wednesday, March 13 and Sunday, March 18, raising money for the pub’s dedicated charity for the year, Keeping Abreast.

The charity is a nearby organisation which supports and cares for women with breast cancer who are considering or who are going through breast reconstruction.

The beer festival will offer more than 25 ales on tap and hand pump from brewers and beers.

A barbecue will also be fired up from Thursday to Sunday.

During the festival, t-shirts will be on sale with a £2 donation to Keeping Abreast, plus a 20p a pint donation from selected ales.

In 2017, the Whalebone raised £2,300 for SERV Norfolk (Norfolk Blood Bikes) with events including beer festivals, quiz nights, golf days, wine tastings and comedy nights.

It is hoped a similar amount can be raised this year.

Owner Mike Lorenz said: “We are proud that so many of our customers have supported the events to help raise an amazing sum of money and it must be remembered in doing so they not only have enjoyed themselves but have given valuable funds to a very worthy charity.”
