The Sewell Barn Theatre in Norwich has announced its upcoming selection of plays for the 2011/12 season.

The eight productions have been chosen by the theatre's new artistic directors Michelle Montague and Robert Little.

The new line-up also includes the amateur premiere of 'Company Along The Mile', written by Oscar-nominated UEA graduate Tom Bidwell.

Michelle said at the announcement of the new line-up: 'We're really excited about the plays we've chosen for this season.

'They allow us to combine the talents and experience of established performers with the enthusiasm of young actors.'

In addition to Tom Bidwell's play, the theatre company will be performing large-scale pieces including a non-musical adaptation of Les Miserables and Shakespeare's popular farce The Comedy of Errors.

Fellow artistic director Robert added: 'We're keen to give our audience a real mixture, so alongside plays by George Bernard Shaw and Willis Hall we have plays by more recent writers. It's a great time to be involved with the theatre.'

Before the new season kicks off however, there will be two plays in the coming months to get the ball rolling.

These are Charlotte Keatley's My Mother Said I Never Should, which begins on Tursday, June 9, and Shakespeare's comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor, which starts at the theatre in July.

The full line-up for the 2011/2012 season is as follows:

The Long and the Short and the Tall, by Willis Hall, October 13-22

Entertaining Angels, by Richard Everett, December 1-10

Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo (adapted by Tim Kelly), January 12-21

Sons and Lovers, by DH Lawrence (adapted by Roger Parsley), March 23 to April 3

Company Along the Mile, by Tom Bidwell, April 5-14

Brighton Beach Memoirs, by Neil Simon, May 10-19

The 100-seat theatre is based in the grounds of Sewell Park College (formerly Blyth-Jex School) on Constitution Hill and has staged over 200 theatrical productions since it opened in 1980.
