The latest Norwich Society lecture takes place at The Assembly House on Wednesday, March 15 at 10.30am when Dr Richard Cocke will talk about Norwich Church Monuments and Norwich Sculptors.

The lecture explores the fashion for church monuments in eighteenth century Norwich and the emergence of two outstanding local sculptors – Robert Page (1707-1778) and Thomas Rawlins (c.1727-1789). Sculptured church monuments were a relatively recent fashion for Norwich and most had been commissioned from London workshops. The lecture takes up the story after the restoration of Charles II with the emergence of local sculptors although important commissions still went to London workshops.

No booking is necessary; there is a charge of £5 at the door for non-members. Visit www.thenorwichsociety.org.uk
