Norwich slimmers meet comedian Jason Manford

A pair of super slimming gurus were laughing as they were honoured for their achievements by comedian Jason Manford.

The comic and star of TV's 8 Out of 10 Cats was a guest at an annual awards ceremony for weight loss business Slimming World, and met Vicky Hopkins, from Norwich and Karen Elder, from Old Catton, both 38, who run weight loss groups at Woodland View Junior School, Ivy Road, Spixworth – Mrs Hopkins' old middle school – and White Woman Lane Junior School in Old Catton.

Mrs Hopkins said: 'It was absolutely amazing; they must have had 150 tables of slimming consultants and slimmers, such an incredible thing to be a part of, and Jason was great, such a laugh.

'The people who lost the weight were amazing; it proves that this is a plan that if you stick to, you can lose that weight.'

Mr Manford, who recently headlined at the Norfolk Showground, said: 'I met so many inspirational people, not only the slimmers collecting awards but also the amazing people like Vicky and Karen who run the groups and help them achieve so much. It's literally changed their lives.

'I think the people of Old Catton are very lucky to have people who are as dedicated to their members as Vicky and Karen are, and to have such great support networks on their doorstep.

'If anyone in Old Catton is thinking about trying to lose weight, I can honestly say that these groups are the places to do it.'

Mrs Hopkins added: 'We'd love anyone who wants to make a change to come along and join us.'
