The University of East Anglia's Sportspark hosted this year's Norwich Santa Run and Reindeer Dash on its athletics track for children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent.

Sportspark made a donation of £700 towards the event, which aims to get everyone in the festive mood whilst raising money for CLIC Sargent.

On Sunday, December 18, around 100 adults and children, dressed up as Santa or his reindeers, took part in the event, which organisers are hoping will bring in around £10,000 once all the funds have been collected.

Customers at Sportspark have raised the money by making small donations in return for copies of the Evening News and Eastern Daily Press, through a promotion in conjunction with both newspapers’ parent company, Archant.

Acting director of Sportspark, Maria Rowe, said: “The event was really fun, everyone got in the festive spirit and it was lovely to see families spending time with each other for such a good cause.

“It was great to have the Norwich Santa Run back at Sportspark and it even snowed right on schedule, which made it very special.

“I’m pleased the Sportspark is able to contribute to the fundraising this year, thanks to our generous customers.”

Sportspark’s donation of £700 will be spent on helping Norfolk children affected by cancer, and their families.

Mervyn Freeman, Archant’s tactical sales manager, added: “We are delighted to work with local attractions and businesses on charity projects and
congratulate the Sportspark team on achieving this special donation.”
