A special rug celebrating all the places called Norwich around the world was presented to the city today.

The rug was presented on behalf of Benjamin Lathrop, mayor of Norwich, Connecticut, who designed and made the rug as a memento of the 350th anniversary of his own city last July.

The rug was presented to lord mayor Evelyn Collishaw by Margaret Ince, from the Norfolk and Norwich World Family, an association which fosters links with other places called Norwich and Norfolk.

City officials are now looking for a suitable place to display the large rug, which bears the coats-of-arms of Norwich and Norfolk as well as of Norwich in Connecticut.
