An former pub that had become a magnet for vandals and anti-social behaviour after it closed its doors will soon be opening again - as an Indian restaurant.
The former Viking pub site in Tills Road, off North Walsham Road, has been derelict since it closed in 2007 and the windows have all been smashed which led to the site being boarded up last year.
Sazu Miah from London applied to Broadland District Council for a new premises licence which would see the building become The Royal Bengal restaurant and open from noon until 12.30am.
The new licence seeks permission to host live music on the premises between 5pm and 11pm on Thursdays and play recorded music between noon and midnight Monday to Sunday. The proposals also seek permission to provide alcohol from noon to midnight between the same days.

Broadland's licensing sub-committee met on Wednesdaywhen they approved the application for the new premises licence subject to a number of conditions.
The conditions relate to noise and odour emission, CCTV coverage, the sale of alcohol to under 18s, the display of notices advising patrons of their conduct while leaving the premises, and electrical testing.

The business must also not open until the applicant has all the necessary building consent.
