A Norwich pub landlady - backed by the Evening News - has been forging links with Labour Party big guns in a bid to draw attention to the financial struggles facing the industry.

Dawn Hopkins, landlady at The Rose and Ketts Tavern, and Evening News reporter David Bale, attended last night’s first Labour Party annual business reception in central London, which was also attended by Labour leader Ed Miliband and shadow chancellor Ed Balls.

Mrs Hopkins is hoping that her links with Mr Balls, who is a keen Norwich City supporter, will keep the issues surrounding pubs uppermost in his mind.

The Evening News has been campaigning to protect community pubs through its Love Your Local campaign, which was backed at the reception by David Wilson, from the British Beer and Pub Association.
