An enterprising pair who love to get out on their bikes are hoping to fill a gap in the market with their women-specific cycle clothing business.

Cat Attridge and Suzanne Orr, from Thorpe Hamlet in Norwich, launched Outfoxed this year after they became frustrated with the lack of female-friendly cycle wear on the market.

Their online business aims to provide women with colourful and fun tops which are designed by women for women.

There are currently seven designs in the range, including a jersey which features a city-scape and another emblazoned with the words 'Start a revolution'.

Ms Attridge, 33, who works as an accountant in the city centre full-time, said: 'We found that when we were looking for cycle clothing, the designs and fit were not well thought out.

'Colours are really important, we didn't just want a black jersey or something with not much design.

'Cycling is about freedom and having fun, and you want to look the part while doing it.'

At the moment, the women run the online business from their home but it is hoped they will be able to sell their jerseys from independent cycle shops.

They said the feedback they have had so far has been positive and buyers have posted photos of themselves wearing the jerseys while out cycling on Outfoxed's Twitter feed.

'Completely off their own backs, they have been sending us pictures while they have been out and about in our jerseys - it's been really positive for us and it makes it all worthwhile,' said Ms Attridge.

It is the duo's first attempt at setting up their own business, something which they have said has been a 'steep learning curve'.

Ms Orr, 41, who is a member of Norwich-based triathlon club Tri-Anglia and has represented Ireland at international level for her age group, said: 'We had to make bit of a leap and go for it - we didn't want to be here in five years' time saying we had that idea.

'Women's cycling is growing all the time, it has got massive, and the coverage of it has got bigger so we're hoping to ride on that wave.'

The jerseys are designed by former Norwich University College of the Arts student Michelle Bonfield and are printed in Norfolk.
