Doris Ball spent the past 52 years caring for her son Malcolm until he died back in March this year.

He had suffered from various health conditions and was born with cerebral palsy.

Since his death, Mrs Ball said it had become too hard to have her late son's belongings in the home.

And the 89-year-old now wants to sell the items to raise money for the East of England Air Ambulance.

She said: 'He was such a clever and lovely young man. He had no malice in him whatsoever. It is hard to have it in the house and it is heartbreaking to see his room each time.

'So I want to invite people to come around and take their pick. I have everything from Lego to clothing.'

Mrs Ball, of St Alban's Road, has already raised £400 for the charity after hosting two other open days at her home on St Alban's Road.

She chose the charity because of the good work it did around the county.

She is aiming to raise an additional £100 from the sale of the remaining items.

Everything from adults clothing to children's toys is available for the public to purchase.

People are invited to her home throughout this week to donate money and pick up a bargain.
