Sprowston St John Ambulance Badger Finley Corbett is awarded his Super Badger award by county Badger leader Linda Sweeney.

A second St John Ambulance Badger in the Norwich area has earned the Super Badger award in the space of a couple of weeks.

"It took a long time to become a Super Badger but it was worth it as I can wear the badge on my cadet uniform."

Two weeks ago in Local Life we reported on Bowthorpe’s Charley Tedds claiming his Super Badger award – and now a Sprowston Badger has joined him in claiming the honour.

Nine-year-old Finley Corbett has also been awarded the St John Ambulance’s top youth award for members under 10 years old.

Finley, a member of the Sprowston Badger sett, has been working on the Super Badger award for the past four years, progressing his way through 12 subjects to get to the much coveted Super Badger level.

The youngster is the third member of his family to complete the Super Badger award, following in the footsteps of his two older brothers.

He has also completed level one in Youth First Aid and is trained to the same level as some of the St John junior cadets.

Finley said: “It took a long time to become a Super Badger but it was worth it as I can wear the badge on my cadet uniform.”

His last subject was communication where he learned sign language, how to use a radio and the phonetic alphabet.

His Super Badger certificate and limited edition Wade pottery badger was presented by Norfolk’s County Badger Leader, Linda Sweeney, at the Sprowston sett’s presentation evening.

Linda said: “Presenting Finley with his award was a pleasure, as I have previously presented his two older brothers with their award before they became Cadets.”
