Tipster toddler Hannah Lindsay left the racing experts trailing when she picked the Grand National winner at the first attempt.

The two-year-old amazingly came up trumps when asked to cast her eye over the 40-runner Aintree spectacular for the first time.

Jockey Tony McCoy was riding high after winning at the 15th attempt and so was Hannah, from Tolye Road, Three Score, Bowthorpe, with a perfect record in the world-famous event.

Proud dad Milton, who had spent Saturday morning studying form and 'expert' opinion in the Sun newspaper, said: 'How good was that?

'We had said she could have a horse in the race and when I showed her the paper she pointed straight to the yellow and green colours of Don't Push It and said 'I want that one'.

'I discounted her horse because I thought it was a race that McCoy was destined never to win - but I should have taken more notice. I picked four horses and none of them came anywhere and her mum Tracy picked two horses to no avail, including one which planted itself at the start and refused to race.

'None of the Sun's highly-paid experts came up with the winner either.'

Hannah's inspired selection earned her the princely return of 50 - whereas the official starting price was 10-1, Milton put 2 on the horse online with Betfair at odds of 25-1.

'She can use the money for treats when we go on holiday,' said Milton. 'I won't be encouraging her to bet on a regular basis - but if she can steer me in the right direction, there might be commission in it.

'My advice to her is to quit while she's ahead, said Archant sports journalist Milton, who organises the Evening News Aggbag Top Tips competition, which began at the weekend.

'I've enjoyed a flutter for many years and even backed all seven of Frankie Dettori's Ascot winners in various combinations a few years back, but it's a tough old game to stay ahead in,' he said.
