A Norwich gallery came alive with the tastes and sounds of the Caribbean and Africa as the start of Black History Month was celebrated.

Yesterday's free family festival at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the University of East Anglia saw families join in West African djembe drumming, take part in salsa dancing and taste African food from Totem.

Other activities included bracelet-making, sugar craft demonstrations and African dance workshops.

More than 100 events marking Norfolk Black History Month will take place throughout October. For more information, go to www.norfolkblackhistorymonth.org.uk.
