Hundreds of pounds were raised to help fight breast cancer when a community centre hosted a fashion fundraiser.

Last Tuesday’s event at the Vauxhall Community Hub in Johnson Place, Norwich, saw some 150 people take part in activities including Zumba and enjoy treatments such as Indian head massage and reflexology.

They also had the opportunity to buy nearly new clothes, handbags and accessories.

The event was held to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK’s leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research, campaigning and education.

It raised £819.50.

Sarah Smith, who was one of the organisers, said: “It was really good and we had people of all ages come along.

“The emphasis was really on fun. It was a really nice event and was very upbeat.”

The centre has a ladies social group called Tuesday Charmers which wanted to host a charity fundraiser in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

The group, which is open to the public, takes part in a range of activities weekly.

As part of the fundraiser, bra bunting was hung around the centre. There was also a cake sale and people donned pink T-shirts.

Team leader Chrissy Gok, who organised the event, said: “We are absolutely delighted with how much was raised.

“Sarah and I would also like to thank the college students who are doing the b-tec level 1 in health and social care from City College Norwich who helped us out.”
