The family of a man who died from a brain haemorrhage aged just 38 have been 'overwhelmed' by the support they have received in trying to set up a charity in his memory to help others.

Darren Tubby, a former Blyth Jex school pupil, died suddenly at his Norwich home after returning from work, despite his wife Beverley's efforts to revive him.

His death, on September 18 last year, devastated his family, who were inundated with messages of condolence from friends and work colleagues at Stevensons, on Roundtree Way, Norwich.

His family, including his wife and mother Maureen, are now trying to establish the Darren Tubby Trust so that Mr Tubby, who lived with his wife and their golden retriever Lenny in Oak Lane, off Chartwell Road, can help others in death as he did in life.

But in order to set up the charity, which aims to support brain injury research and rehabilitation, the family need to raise at least 5,000.

They have organised a number of charity events to try and reach that target, including a charity firewalk at Elm Farm, Horsham St Faith, earlier this month, which has raised more than 2,000.

Mrs Tubby said: 'Many people turn out to support us; we had an entertainer, prize raffle and tombola. Everyone participating braved the fire, much to the crowd's delight.

'It was fun night enjoyed by all. Money collected already totals 2,000 with money still to come in. The family of Darren have been overwhelmed by the continued support and generosity of everyone and would like take this opportunity to that everyone.'

The firewalk followed a charity pub quiz held at Heath House pub earlier this year, which raised a further 355.

The family came up with the idea of establishing a charity as a way of keeping Darren's memory alive.

Mr Tubby had three sisters, Cheryl, Sue and Tracy, was an uncle to nine children and a great uncle to five children.
