A Norwich music duo hopes to get Canary fans dancing to their tune after writing a Norwich City promotion song.

Friends Gary Francis and Shane Hill were inspired to write the track entitled Tribute (On the Ball) after watching the Canaries secure top-flight football next season.

The pair took their influences for the song from German artist Kraftwerk.

Mr Hill, a taxi driver living at Gas Hill in the city centre, said he plans to play the song to Wes Hoolahan who he often picks up in his taxi.

The 39-year-old said: “We originally did an England song when they were in the World Cup. We performed it at Chicago’s down Prince of Wales Road.

“Then we decided we had to put a song together for Norwich City. So in two days we wrote a song in Gary’s studio. We imagine its the type of song you would hear in a bar or a night club.”

Gary Francis, who goes by the name of Purple Dazzle, recorded the song at his home on Newmarket Road. “The voices in the song are robotic and there is a catchy repetitive refrain,” said the 37-year-old.

“I just love writing music, so I was happy to put a song together for Norwich City, and help a good cause.”

The pair plan to wait and see how popular the song is before releasing it on ITunes.
