Teenager sweethearts to celebrate golden wedding anniversary on Norfolk Day
It promises to be a special day for the county.
But Friday, July 27 - Norfolk Day - marks a truly important occasion for one couple who are celebrating 50 years of marriage that day.
Richard and Louise Nunn, 72 and 71, from Cotman Road in Norwich, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with an afternoon tea alongside 50 family members and close friends.
The couple, who grew up in Norwich, first met as teenagers at a dance organised by a the Princes Street United Reformed Church youth club in the city.
She was 16 and was introduced to her future husband, then aged 17, by her lifelong friend Pam Turner, nee Harrison, who was the couple's bridesmaid.
Mrs Nunn, nee Darkins, who grew up in Hellesdon and trained as a teacher, said: 'It was twisting the night away-type music when we met. I remember Richard being a tall chap with a woolly jumper and lots of hair.'
Her husband, who grew up off Newmarket Road and trained as an electrical engineer, said he remembers enjoying the music and dancing with his future wife.
Mr Nunn, was baptised in the Princes Street United Reformed Church and spent his childhood and teenage years attending services at the church.
The church's youth group, called the Tuesday Club, used to attract around 100 teenagers each week and was a fun place to be, according to Mrs Nunn.
Its band, called The Flinstones, were performing at St Thomas' Church hall in the summer of 1963 when Mr and Mrs Nunn first met.
And despite going off to do their training at Hatfield College of Technology, now the University of Hertfordshire, and Bedford, the couple met up regularly.
The couple married in 1968 at the Princes Street United Reformed Church in a dress Mrs Nunn made with her Bedford teacher training college friends.
'I remember at the end of the day my mouth ached because of smiling so much,' she added.
The couple spent time in Mendlesham, in Suffolk, Sussex, and Bangladesh before moving back to Norwich in 2000 when they retired.
Mrs Nunn added: 'We cannot the believe that 50 years has gone past. We have three smashing kids and four lovely grandchildren. We have also always been healthy which is a blessing. We are proud of being from Norfolk.'
Her husband said: 'We have been very lucky.'
