An executive box for two people at Carrow Road for a match next season is among the prizes being auctioned at a charity football game next week in memory of a Coltishall teenager.

Canary legends Darren Huckerby and Paul McVeigh will play in the match at Carrow Road to raise funds in memory of Ryan Sweatman, who died of meningitis.

Following the 19-year-old's death, his family set up a fund to raise money to help find a cure for meningitis.

The teenager, who died in his sleep from meningococcal septicaemia on January 6 after returning to university from his home in Coltishall, was a season ticket holder at Carrow Road.

Ryan's mum, Gina Weston said: 'We are expecting more than 1,000 friends, family and members of the public, but would like to invite more people to help who would like to support the Meningitis Research Foundation in memory of Ryan and also see Darren Huckerby and Paul McVeigh in action.

'We are also selling wristbands at a cost of 2 each in Ryan's favourite colours – yellow and green.

'The fund so far stands at almost 14,000 with more promised from various fundraising events being held all over the country and we hope to raise quite a bit more to add to this at the match and auction.'

Prizes include two return flights from Norwich to Manchester courtesy of Norwich International Airport, a signed Norwich City shirt and pennant, an executive box for two people for a match of their choice next season, with just a couple of matches unavailable, golf round packages, boxes of wine and a 'one night for two' including breakfast at Holiday Inn.

All the proceeds from the match, and accompanying auction and raffle, will be in aid of the work of Meningitis Research Foundation in combating meningitis and septicaemia.

A 5 donation will gain entry to the match, which kicks off at about 1pm on Wednesday as well as a free raffle ticket. More details on the website meningitis.org/rememberryan.
