Living in Dubai makes it difficult to pop back to see your team parade through Norwich to celebrate promotion to the Premiership.

So the Canaries' supporters' club in the United arab Emirates organised its own open-top bus parade through the streets of Dubai.

Friday's parade passed by many of Dubai's landmarks including the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab.

The bus was decked out in city colours, flags and balloons and departed from the home of the supporters' club at the Jumeirah beach hotel, before heading through the streets of Dubai.

Phillip Bray, the chairman of the UAE supporters' club, which he started in July 2009, said: 'To celebrate the amazing feat of reaching the Premier league, and not to be outdone by the recent open-top parade of Norwich, we organised our own celebration tour through the streets of Dubai.

'It was a tremendous night. Cars were blowing their horns, people were waving at the bus, and it was a proud way to represent the team's achievement and showcase our fine city.'

St John Cooper, whose Dubai-based company Big Bus Tours lent the bus for the event, said it was a really special night.

He added: 'It was great to see so many Canary shirts and you could have almost been back home in Norwich. I still can't believe we've actually been promoted.

'We were all singing 'On The Ball City' on the bus and there was a great atmosphere.

'It shows how a little piece of Norwich can come together thousands of miles away.'

As reported, earlier this month Norwich became a jubilant sea of yellow and green as fans turned out on force to celebrate their football heroes' promotion.

More than 40,000 people, young and old, took part in the city's celebrations to mark the club's return to the top of the football world.

Celebrations were held at City Hall which, along with Norwich Castle, was flying the Canaries' flag, where the team was presented with the trophy on the balcony and then the players toured through the city in an open-top yellow and green bus.

The official UAE supporters' club will meet each week to watch Norwich City play in the Promised Land, bringing just a little bit of home to Dubai. If you are in Dubai or the UAE and want more information on how to join, email uae-canaries@live.co.uk.
