Few Norwich City fans will ever forget the heady days when they were riding high in the first ever season of the season of the Premier League, securing a route to Europe in the process.

It was a golden era in the Canaries' recent history which saw them register a historic victory over the mighty Bayern Munich on German soil before being narrowly beaten by Inter Milan in the UEFA Cup run.

And it is magic moments like these that life-long City fan and author Edward Couzens-Lake is trying to capture and preserve as part of a new book.

Mr Couzens-Lake, 47, is in the process of writing a book, provisionally titled '1992: Football's Year Zero and Norwich City' which will focus primarily at the first ever season of Premier League Football in England.

Through the book City fans will be able to trace the club's route to third place in the table behind eventual winners Manchester United and second placed Aston Villa.

But Mr Couzens-Lake, whose first book 'Norwich City Miscellany' was launched late last year, is looking for contributions from former players, staff and supporters to complete the book.

He said: 'I'm looking for contributions, recollections, opinion, memories, press cuttings, photographs, match programmes, indeed, anything and everything to do with that season and the Canaries.

'So I am asking anyone and everyone-ex-players, coaching staff, people who worked at the club at that time, people in the media or otherwise, those whose lives and businesses were connected to the club-and, of course, the supporters, to share those things with me so that I can build up a series of anecdotes, stories, and, where appropriate, interviews, that will appear in the finished book - any input from Norwich City FC 'today' would also be highly valued and appreciated.'

In addition to the book, Mr Couzens-Lake, who lives in Chicester, West Sussex, but was born and bread in Brancaster, on the north Norfolk coast, has a number of other projects 'on the go', including a book about some of Norwich City's greatest/most memorable games, which is due for publication next year.

He has been writing all his life but only took it up 'seriously' after he had been seriously ill with cancer through 2006 and 2007.

He said: 'One of those moments when, feeling and looking desperate, you decide 'if I get out of this, I am going to do something with my life.

'Since then, have written regularly for Capital Canary magazine, also for Backpass magazine, as well as other bits and pieces. The Norwich City Miscellany was my first book, it was published in October last year and has just gone to reprint.'

Three of the best from 1993

Norwich City led the inaugural Premier League campaign in 1992-93 for most of the way before faltering in the final weeks to finish third behind champions Manchester United and second-placed Aston Villa.

Here are three of the best wins from a season which saw them qualify for the UEFA Cup.

Arsenal 2 Norwich 4 (August 15 1992): The Canaries come back from a 2-0 deficit on the opening day of the new Premier League season with supersub Mark Robins David Phillips and Ruel Fox the goalscoring heroes.

Aston Villa 2 Norwich 3 (November 28 1992): Phillips, Darren Beckford and Daryl Sutch were among the goals as City came out on top in a five goal thriller at Villa.

Norwich 1 Liverpool 0 (May 1 1993): Phillips again netted, courtesy of a penalty, in City's final home game.
