Members of the public have been urged to help the region's life-saving air ambulance - by purchasing tickets for a charity ball in the city.

A Masquerade Charity Ball will be held at the Noverre Ball Room, in the Assembly House, on Saturday, April 24 and will feature local band Austin Beats.

The event, which hopes to help raise £5,000 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, is the brainchild of three men from Norfolk, who are also hoping to help raise money towards a 10,000 mile trip to Mongolia where they will deliver an ambulance to the Mongolian people.

As previously reported, James Snow and Jon Rudd, who live in Norwich and work for Norfolk Constabulary, and Olly Reeve, from King's Lynn, who works at the Corn Exchange, formed team Nomad Feat after being inspired to enter the Mongol Rally by their desire to combine an adventure with raising money for causes they feel passionate about.

The team, who will also be taking part in a 100-mile cycle ride along the Norfolk coast on May 21, will set off from Goodwood Racecourse on July 24 and expect to reach their destination in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, three or four weeks later.

In addition they are also aiming to raise over £500 for the Mercy Corps, which is helping victims of the Haitian earthquake, and £500 for the Christina Noble Children's Foundation.

Hannah Clay, EAAA fundraising manager for South Norfolk, said: “Jon, James and Olly have a major adventure ahead of them and the funds they're hoping to raise for charities, including the EAAA, will make a huge difference so we're very grateful for their support.”

To order tickets for the Masquerade Ball, which cost £25, or for any further information on Nomad Feat's fundraising efforts, visit www.nomadfeat.co.uk or contact them on 07809 375843.
