Stuart Curror and his partner Sophie Parrott found their cat Mao at the side of the road on Mile Cross Lane by the junction with Vulcan Road.

Mao was hit by a car on Tuesday, February 6 and was found by his owners that night. They are not sure what time of day he was hit.

Mr Curror said: 'Someone had the decency to move him to the side of the road so we were able to retrieve him and get him cremated, giving him a small amount of dignity after being taken so tragically.

'If anyone knows who helped move him please let me know as I would like to thank them in person, it means a lot to me.'
