Nelson and Norfolk opens at the historic venue this Saturday and features an extraordinary collection of objects connected to naval hero Admiral Lord Nelson, from his childhood in Norfolk to his death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
The impressive centrepiece to the exhibition will be a huge French Tricolor ensign - measuring 16 metres by 8.3 metres - which was captured from the French ship Le Généreux by Admiral Lord Nelson's men in 1800 and is being displayed in public for the first time in more than a century. Also in the exhibition is a portrait of Admiral Lord Nelson which was painted by William Beechey in 1801.
Nelson and Norfolk opens on Saturday at Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery and runs until October 1. Visit www.museums.norfolk.gov.uk
